DEiFY is a BIPOC collective on Ngunnawal, Ngunawal, and Ngambri land. With DEiFY, I facilitated Blak Love, which was a yarning circle reflecting on a multi-media exploration of First Nations artists’ love of self, family, community, partners and/or country.
Blak Love is an expression of different forms of love for mob. That love may be love of self, family, community, platonic/romantic/sexual/sensual partners, and/or country. Blak Love will be explored through an online showcase of artists throughout June, and an in-person event in July.
The meeting of our queerness and our culture sets the stage for a unique expression of selfhood and love. Blak Love will be a space to explore this intersection and connect with one another over shared joys and pains.
This is a space that can be both affirming and confronting, just as love can be both beautiful and venomous. There will be both heart-swell and break within our journeys. This event and art showcase is a space for all forms of love to be explored.
